Thomas N. Sparks Jr, died on June28, 2021 after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born June 18, 1947, in Montgomery County, Virginia. He was the son of T. Newton Sparks and Emily Garnett Sparks of Orange, VA.
Tom graduated from Atlantic Christian College (Barton College) in 1969 and served in the US Army from 1969-1971. He was employed by the Martin Agency until his retirement in 2013. He was Charter member of the Orange County Junior Rescue Squad and a member of the Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity. Tom was also an Eagle Scout.
Surviving in addition to his wife Barbara, are his son James Hunter Sparks and his wife Lauren of Denver, Colorado, brother Philip Logan Sparks his wife Julie of Charlottesville, VA, sister Ann Garnett Freed and her husband Chris of Gordonsville VA, brother Edward Walker Sparks and his wife Lisa of Orange, VA and many nephews and nieces.
A private graveside service will be held later at Mt. Zion Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Shenandoah National Trust, 1750 Allied Street, Suite C, Charlottesville, VA 22903
