Mary “Skeeter” Brookman Keys, 73 of Hood, VA passed away on Friday, March 28, 2025 at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital. She was born on May 2, 1951, to the late Mary Elizabeth Hensley Brookman and Ellis Ewell Brookman. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Margaret Conley and Betty Mullis. She was a retired bookkeeper.

She attended church throughout her life and was a Sunday school teacher for many years.

She enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning and sewing. She never met a stranger and was willing to help anyone in need.  

She is survived by her daughter, Dawn “Mitzi” and husband, Eric Strosnyder of Winchester, VA, grandchildren, Meghan Strosnyder, Ericka Strosnyder, Nicholas Strosnyder, Hannah 

Strosnyder and Alexandra Strosnyder; great grandchildren, Emmy Burroughs and Sophie Burroughs; niece, Carolyn and husband, Garry Smithson; nephews, Dennis Conley, Herbert and wife, Allison Ennis, and Kevin and wife, Stephanie Conley; and several great nieces and nephews.  

Please join us to celebrate her life on Monday, April 7, 2025 with a visitation at 1pm and funeral service at 2 pm at Preddy Funeral Home Chapel, Madison, Va with Bob Slaven officiating. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery in Gordonsville, Va.
