On November 22, 2024, Margaret H. Vogel, a resident of Ruckersville, VA, passed away peacefully at The Blake of Charlottesville, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on May 11, 1940, in Hazard, KY, to the late Ira Hall and Rosie Combs.
Before dementia took over her life, Margaret was a skilled seamstress who enjoyed reading her bible, sewing, playing bingo, cross-stitching, going to yard sales and doing word search puzzles. She loved the Lord, went to church, and watched church services on TV when she could not go to church.
Margaret was always up for a ride to get an ice cream cone. Even after dementia took over, ice cream and popsicles were always calming to her.
Margaret leaves behind her sister, Bernice Palmer of Ruckersville; her brother, Kenneth Hall of Indiana; and her children, Bige Allan Engle and wife Julie of St. Augustine, FL, Sharon Engle and fiancée Mike Deane of Ruckersville, and Joanne Dormain and husband Clint of Slidell, LA. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Adam, Brittany, Christina, Amanda, Clint, and Dylan; six great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and multiple nieces and nephews.
Margaret was predeceased by her first husband, Harrison Engle, and her second husband, Frank C. Vogel, Jr. She is also reunited with her daughter, Karen Engle, and her sons, Michael, and Dennis Engle, as well as her grandson, Jacob Bige Engle, her sisters, Emma Jean Rose and Mattie Taylor, and brothers Hargis and Ira Hall, Jr. Margaret was a kind, loving, strong, and spirited lady with a good sense of humor. Most of the time it was her way or no way. Her famous words were “you’re not my boss”.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Brooke Bostic for his many years of care and Medi-Hospice for their care, with special thanks to Amber and Felicia. They would also like to thank the many caregivers that helped take care of their mom during her time at The Blake especially those that went above and beyond in the last year for their visits and compassionate care, Gail Graves, Jabin Cunningham, Michelle Taylor, Kelly Katzer, Amanda Cesar, Joe Culpeper and Rhonda Woodward.
Funeral services at Arlington National Cemetery are incomplete at this time.
