Joyce Lee Marshall Taylor, 90, of Stanardsville, Va. passed away on Monday, July 5, 2021 at Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville. She was born on March 24, 1931 to the late David Howard Marshall, Sr. and Bertha Jane Roberts Marshall. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene “Mutt” Holman Taylor, Sr.; daughter, Sandra Joyce D’Alessandro; brothers, John Tavner Marshall and David Howard Marshall, Jr.; sister, Eleanor Virginia Pace.

Joyce worked at Blue Bell, Greene County Schools as a teacher’s aide, and later kept many children in her home. She was called “Grandma Taylor” by most everyone. She generously volunteered her time. She was a member of Stanardsville Baptist Church for over 60 years and loved helping with vacation Bible School. She loved to cook and was famous for her coleslaw and angel biscuits. Joyce loved gardening and was an avid seamstress.

She is survived by her daughter, Marcia Taylor Lundie and husband Alfred of Chesterfield, Va.; sons Brandon David Taylor and wife Elisa of Leesburg, Va., and Eugene Holman Taylor, Jr. and wife Diane of Stanardsville, Va.; sister, Jane Marshall Haney of Richmond; grandchildren, Brian Chadwick (Misty), Nicole Berry (Brian), Justin Lundie (Gina), Olivia Taylor, Ella Taylor, Maddie Taylor; great-grandchildren, Charlotte Hudson, Samuel Hudson, Walker Shifflett, Natalee Shifflett, Genesis Sime, and Logan Lundie; a sister-in-law, Ann Marshall; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend, Peggy.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, July 9, 2021 at Preddy Funeral Home Chapel in Madison with interment in the Taylor Family Cemetery, Mutts Lane, Stanardsville, Va. The family will receive friends one hour before the service, from 2:00 to 3:00 pm at the funeral home.
