Jerry Wayne Chaney, 79 of Louisa, died Saturday December 17, 2022 at his residence. Born May 4, 1943 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, he was the son of the late Joshua May Chaney, Jr. and Matilda Catherine Giles Chaney. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Joshua May Chaney, III. Jerry was a retired Master Trooper with the Virginia State Police. He was a member of Berea Baptist Church and a Master Freemason. He was an avid fisherman and he loved his family and church family. Jerry always loved and trusted in the Lord.

He is survived by his wife, June Moore Chaney, his daughter, Suzanne Chaney Havasy and her husband Rick, two sons, Christopher Wayne Chaney and wife Toni, Philip Jerry Chaney and wife Susan, grandchildren, Leigha Chaney (Charlie), Luke Chaney, Matthew Chaney (Becky), Joshua Chaney (Amya), great-grandchildren, Aither and Liam Chaney and a number of other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00p.m. on January 14, 2023 at Berea Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Berea Baptist Church, 5271 Poindexter Road, Louisa, VA 23093 or to Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Pkwy, Suite 300, Charlottesville, VA 22911.
