Jeffrey Carroll Shifflett, 63 of Orange, passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2023, surrounded by his family and close friends. He was born on February 2, 1960, in Charlottesville, VA to the late Carroll and Janice Shifflett of Orange. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 46 years, Robin Leavell Shifflett; son Shannon Shifflett and wife Wendy, Brandon Shifflett, and companion Dawn Rigsby; daughters Brittney Hall and husband Devin; Chastity Taylor and husband Brooks; Grandchildren Makenzi, Kel, and Kolt Shifflett; Austin Shifflett; Kyler, Lena, Jettlyn, and Makin Hall; Wyatt, Gunner, Henley, and Ladd Taylor; Alyson Rigsby; Bradley Hanner; great-grandson Brayden Rickett; lifelong best friend Richard Rothgeb Sr., and special cousin, Becky Engel, his laughing buddy who was more like a sister.
Jeff worked in the logging industry for most of his career. He excelled at being a sawyer. He then worked as a utility inspector for Williams Gas for 15 years where he made many friends. His coworkers relied on the accuracy of his daily reports. He was also known for his unique people skills of interacting with coworkers and contractors.
Throughout his life, he was an avid relic hunter and collector of antiques. Jeff never met a stranger. He was a wealth of knowledge and humor. He was a source of guidance and leadership for all who knew him. His steadfast love for his family remained the most important aspect throughout his life.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 17, 2023, at 12:00 pm at the Preddy's Funeral Chapel, Orange. Graveside will be held at the Family Cemetery at the Shifflett Residence immediately following the service. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 16, 2023, from 6:00-7:00 p.m. at the Preddy Funeral. Home, 250 West Main St. Orange, VA 22960.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital in honor of his love for children or American Cancer Society in remembrance of winning the battle with cancer in his early 20s.
