James Maury Wood, 78 of Gordonsville, passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021, at his residence. He was born June 27, 1943, in Bumpass, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his mother, Gladys Herring. Jimmy worked for many years in the area installing vinyl siding and replacing windows. He was a wonderful husband and father and he will be greatly missed.

Mr. Wood is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lois Rebecca Wood, four daughters, Tammy Lynn Noel and husband Dennis of Gordonsville, DeLois Rae Wood of Gordonsville, Tina Marie Smith of Charlottesville, Angela Renee Sims of Charlottesville, two brothers, Warren Herring of Cobham, Sylvester Herring, Jr. and wife Carol of Charlottesville, two sisters, Debra Mills of Charlottesville, Linda Wood and husband Mike of Zion Crossroads, eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a host of other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at New Beginnings Pentecostal Holiness Church at 5341 Old Barboursville Rd, Barboursville, VA 22923 with Pastor Shawn Edwards officiating. All family and friends are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Parkway, Suite 300, Charlottesville, VA 22911.
