James Francis Halley               December 20, 2022

James Francis “Jimmy” Halley, 82, of Fincher Drive, Rapidan died on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 . Jimmy was born on January 27, 1940 in Charlottesville and was the son of the late James Woodward Halley and Anne Catherine Peel Halley.   He was also preceded in death by a son, James Blair Halley and a sister, Agnes Helen Halley.


Jimmy is survived by a daughter Laura Halley Lloyd of Chattanooga, TN; three step sons Michael, John and wife Charity, and Chad Karstetter; grandchildren Anna and Connor Lloyd; Natalie, Aaron, Ethan, Ryan, Bridget, Dylan, Owen, Kaily, and Joseph Karstetter.


Jimmy graduated from Orange County High School in 1958. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Richmond, and his master’s educational degree from the University of Virginia. Jimmy taught school in Culpeper and Louisa Counties where he coached football and track. Jimmy was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, enjoyed hunting, fishing, and raising beagles and was a member of the Fauquier and Apple Valley Beagle Clubs.


A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 23, 2022 at 1:00 PM   at the Preddy Funeral Chapel in Orange. Burial will be in Graham Cemetery, Orange. Pastor Lin Hutton will officiate. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 119 Caroline Street, Orange, VA. 22960.
