Gary James Davis, 70, of Orange, Virginia passed away at Mary Washington Hospital on July 6, 2022. He was born on May 6, 1952 in Gordonsville, Virginia and was the son of the late Roy Davis and Elizabeth Walker-Davis and brother of Ray Davis.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sandy, and two daughters, Emily Davis, and Jessica Hendrix and her husband Cole. Gary was a steadfast man of faith, a loving husband, and incredible father who will be missed by many here on earth but is now eternally reunited with the many family members that left before him and at peace in heaven.
Gary spent most of his life in Orange County, or “God’s Country” as he often referred to it as. He made a great life for his family working as an HVAC technician at Trane before joining the Library of Congress where he continued to work part-time even though he told everyone he was “retired”. Gary had a work ethic like no other, instilled in him at a young age from working at his dad’s Gulf service station (now 7-11) in Gordonsville, Virginia.
One of Gary’s favorite hobbies was watching Nascar, going to the race in Richmond, and in his younger days racing cars himself. He would often bring family and friends to the race so they could experience some of the thrill of a good left turn.
Gary was a faithful disciple of God for the entirety of his life. From a young boy attending Gordonsville Baptist Church to teaching his own children in Sunday School about the power of God’s love, he was a steadfast follower of the Lord.
A celebration of his life will be held on July 9, 2022 at 2pm (1pm for family) at Preddy Funeral Home of Madison, Virginia. (59 Edgewood School Ln, Madison, VA 22727).
