Elizabeth Diane Roebuck April 6, 2025
Elizabeth Diane Roebuck departed this life on April 6, 2025, at Autumn Care in Madison, VA. She was born on February 10, 1958, in Charlottesville, VA, to the late Lincoln and Rachael Cottrill Roebuck. Diane, as she was often called, attended Madison County Public Schools. She graduated from Madison County High School in 1976. Her first job was at Big Tee Burger in Orange, VA, and upon graduation from high school, she began clerical skill training at the Occupational Industrialization Center, where she began working as a secretary. She then went on to work at the Virginia Employment Commission. In 1983, she began to work at the Madison Department of Social Services as an Eligibility Worker; she remained there until her retirement in 2020, after 37 years of service.
Diane accepted the Lord as her personal Savior at a young age and became a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Tanners, VA. Years later, she became a member of New Fellowship Christian Center in Madison Mills, VA., where she served faithfully until her passing. She served in several capacities, including administrator to the pastor, church clerk, and guitarist for the choir.
Diane was a gentle spirit who loved her family and friends. She enjoyed Sunday dinners on “Roebuck’s Hill”. She would laugh and joke around some, but she often sat back observing what friends came and went and what was going on in the room. She loved watching sports, especially football. Her favorite team was the Washington Commanders and she had a fun rivalry with the Dallas Cowboys fans in the room. She also loved supporting her grandchildren in their various sporting events.
She is survived by her loving and devoted son Jarrod Roebuck and daughter-in-law Tinsley of Orange, VA; grandchildren Jeremiah, Takirah, Lauren, Talya and Bentley; siblings Dorrie Carver (Paul), Chicago, IL, Tonya Roebuck, Loretta Roebuck, Lincoln Roebuck (Fran), Madison, VA, and Gail Temple, Orange, VA; bonus siblings Wayne Johnson, Chesterfield, VA, Aletha Johnson, Chicago, IL, and Barry Johnson, Madison, VA, two aunts Louise Luke, Bronx, NY, and Evangelist Charlotte Blair, Washington, D.C, along with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. While Diane loved all of her nieces and nephews, she had a very special relationship with her oldest niece, Daytia Ivery. She treasured the lasting friendships she made while a member of the Madison Department of Social Services, as well as her devoted friend and sister in Christ, Rosa Page. Along with her parents, Diane was preceded in death by her bonus brother Todd Johnson.
