Bernard Poticha, passed away peacefully at his home with his wife, Christine, on November 23, 2022. His parents were the late Samuel and Elizabeth Poticha. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Robin Ann, and a brother, Alfred.

Bernard was born in Milwaukee and moved to Chicago with his parents and brother when he was a child. Bernard had a long and fulfilling life. He owned a clothing, jewelry, and gift shop, named Farrago, in Lincoln Park, Chicago in his younger years.

When he met Christine, they married and moved to the island of St. Martin in the French West Indies where they ran a restaurant and guest house and lived for 10 years. in 1992, Madison County became their home. They brought the Caribbean to Virginia by running Bertines North Restaurant. It was in Madison County where Bernard lived out the remainder of his years.  He also home tutored students with the public school system, joined and participated in the Madison County Lions Club and Wolftown Ruritan. He was involved with the March of Dimes because of his infant daughter’s heart related death.

Bernard is survived by his wife, Christine, his children, Meryl, Glenn and Samuel, his grandchildren, Lily, Claire, Andrew and Vincent, and his great-grandchildren, Zoey, Kahlo, Gabriel and Jack. Bernard’s final resting place will be with his paternal family at Shalom Memorial Cemetery in Chicago, Illinois.
