Andrew (Drew) Hunter Tate, 23, of Stanardsville, VA, passed away unexpectedly March 1, 2022. He was born on April 8, 1998, to Rodney and Kim Tate in Charlottesville, VA.

Drew attended William Monroe High School where he was on the golf team and ran track. He graduated from Roanoke College where he ran track and obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree. At Roanoke Drew met a brotherhood of friends whose close relationship was maintained after college and was very dear to him.

Drew worked as a Covid Vaccination Site Coordinator for the Blueridge Health District. In that role he was the MOBI lead coordinator in charge of driving and maintaining the mobile unit. His coworkers described his efforts as “He drove MOBI to neighborhoods, community centers, schools, and every site in between - essentially anywhere vaccinations were needed, Drew got our team there and helped the patients feel comfortable and the BRHD team supported. MOBI was Drew’s baby.” He took great pride in the work he did.

Away from work Drew enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing, camping, playing the guitar and was excited with his new-found hobby of horseback riding.

In sharing memories of Drew with family and friends a common thread in all of them was his constant beautiful smile. Whether at work or play Drew always had a smile for everyone.

Drew was predeceased by his loving maternal grandparents, Everette and Dorothy Breeden. He is survived by his father, mother, and brother Lance, and his paternal grandparents, Sue and Tom Hatch and Monte and Martha Tate, a host of family and friends; and two very loved dogs, Ruger and Willow.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Preddy Funeral Home in Madison, VA. Funeral services will follow on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Cary Lane officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens in Charlottesville, VA.

In lieu of flowers, in Drew’s memory, please take time to enjoy and appreciate your loved ones and friends.
