Dorothy Mae Sprouse, 97 of Orange, died Friday March 4, 2022. Born April 27, 1924 in Greene County, she was the daughter of the late Henry Edgar Conley and Sally Ann Shifflett Conley. She was the wife of the late Alfred Eugene Sprouse and she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Gwendolyn Sprouse, a son, Ronald Sprouse, three brothers, Thomas Conley, Willard Conley, Lebert Conley and six sisters, Minnie Clark, Hattie Crawford, Nettie Crawford, Ethel Smiley, Pearl Morris and Ruby Shifflett. Mrs. Sprouse, lovingly referred to as Mom Mom, was a member of Forest Hill Baptist Church and she lived her life with Jesus by her side.
She is survived by a daughter, Joyce Sprouse, three sons, Alvin Sprouse, Frank Sprouse (Dottie), Charles Sprouse (Donna), a daughter-in-law, Phyllis Sprouse, Grace Dyer whom she thought of as a daughter and Joseph Proffitt (Liz) whom she thought of as a son. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Howard Sprouse, Kevin Sprouse (Dawn), Dawn Sanner (Tim), Amy Phelps (Jason), Kristen Morris (Gary), Ben Sprouse, Jonathan Sprouse (Casey). Travis Sprouse (Tess), Todd Sprouse (Lizzie), Adam Sprouse (Ashley), Jason Sprouse (Allison), Shane Sprouse, Angela Howe, Chad Sprouse (Kanyawee), Tammy Sprouse (Harold), great-grandchildren, Josh Mick (Kristina), Ashley Strong (Steve), Justin Howe, Colton Howe, Chloe Howe, Jayden Howe, Zachery Howe, Sophia Sprouse, Allie Sprouse, Caleb Phelps, Noah Phelps, Lydia Stone (Nate), Lucas Phelps, Naomi Phelps, Abigail Phelps, Phoebe Phelps, Elizabeth Phelps, Amya Quarles, Jayla Jenkins, Breelyn Sprouse, Connor Sprouse, Madelyn Sprouse, Olivia Sprouse, Julian Sprouse, Owen Sprouse, Delilah Sprouse, Lincoln Sprouse, Quincy Sprouse, Natalie Sprouse, Penelope Sprouse, Camila Sprouse, Jacob Sanner, Alex Sanner, Ben Sanner, Gabrielle Sprouse, Alyssa Dabney (Jeremy), Adriana Sprouse, Kyle Sprouse, great great-grandchildren, Kensie Mick, Haleigh Strong and a host of other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday March 8, 2022 at Maplewood Cemetery in Gordonsville.
