William Jerold Smith, 80 of Gordonsville, died Tuesday August 10, 2021 at the University of Virginia Hospital. He was born December 16, 1940 in Charleston, West Virginia. He was preceded in death by his mother, Henrietta Young and three brothers, Larry Walton Young, James Robert Smith and Jackie Lee Smith.

Jerry is survived by a son, William Michael Smith of Ashland, a daughter, Diana Mae Stalnaker and husband Roger of Gordonsville, siblings, Sandra Taylor and husband David of Clear Creek, WV, Karen Peacock and husband Augie of Jessup, MD, Patricia Stonebanks of Silver Springs, MD, Blaine Young and wife Teri of Vail, AZ, two beloved grandchildren, Jamie Watkins and wife Cari, Cristin Watkins Bowles and husband Herbert all of Gordonsville and a host great-grandchildren who brought him endless joy.

There will be a celebration of his life at his home on Sunday August 22, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Sunset Memorial Park, 1925 Harper Road, Beckley, WV.

The family would like to thank Fandana Kingrae for the loving care she gave Jerry over the last few months.
