William N. “Chili” Childress, 63 of Barboursville, departed this life on Friday July 15, 2022 at Georgetown University Hospital. He was born January 21, 1959 at UVA Hospital. He worked as a car salesman in Charlottesville for many years at Dennis Enterprises, Jim Price, Battlefield, Colonial and Umansky. He enjoyed working with his hands gardening and loved his house.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Bobbi L. Childress of Barboursville, five sisters, Dora Cornish (Charles) of MD, Vanita Thomas (Sam) of VA, Violet Taylor (Quincy) of FL, Alfreda Coleman (Johnnie) of MD, Sheila Dwyer (Lorenzo) of VA, one brother, James M. Childress (Julie) of VA, sisters-in-law, Kelly Pritchett, Terri Woodson, Tracey Shifflett all of VA, a special “son”, Jeremy L. Shifflett and “grandbabies” Mateo and kail, nephews, Mickey, Greg, TJ, Langston, John-John, Patrick, Keith and many great nephews, nieces, Keisila, Tamara, Jackie, Dini, Shelly, Angie, Michelle, Sheena and many great nieces, all that he loved dearly! A very dear uncle, Butch Whindleton.

Chili was preceded in death by his parents, William Henry Childress and Velma Beulah Childress of Esmont, VA, in laws, Robert E. “Bobby” and Gladys M. Haney of Barboursville, brothers, David and Henry Childress, nephews, Michael Childress, damon Childress, Michael Pritchett, great nephew, Ayaan Shifflett.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday July 22, 2022 at Preddy Funeral Home in Gordonsville with interment to follow in Maplewood Cemetery. Pastor Stanley Woodfolk will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 on Thursday July 21, 2022 at the funeral home.
