William “Bill” Davis of Orange, VA peacefully passed away April 22, 2022 at the age of 74. He was preceded in death by his father William Catlin Davis, mother Nina Bland Hackney Davis, and sister Barbara Ellen Nackley. He is survived by his two daughters Arielle Milen (Lee) and Adrianna Stinnette (Cole), and two grandchildren Olivia Milen and Bryce Milen.

He went to Cardinal Gibbons High School in NC, continuing his education at the University of NC at Pembroke then at Chapel Hill where he double majored in psychology and philosophy. He later earned a teaching degree in social studies and science at The College at Leonor-Rhyne in Hickory, NC. Bill traveled to several music festivals during his “hippy” college years, attending the first Woodstock festival in 1969 and the Atlanta International Pop Festival in 1970. Bill was passionate about saltwater fishing, his pets, and photography. He worked at the Orange Review 1980-1983 then at American Press from 1983-2003 working in computer graphics, scanning, and printing.

He spent the last few years of his life at Dogwood Village, surrounded by many friends who became family. He was known for his compliments and always saying nice things to make your day better. In his last days he said, “It sure is good to be around so many people who love you.”

His family is immensely grateful for Dogwood Village and for the Center for Acute Hospice Care in Charlottesville for the love they showed Bill and family. In honor of Bill’s love for animals, make any donations to your local animal shelter. There will be an open memorial service May 21, 2022 at a location to be determined.
