Delma Franklin Moubray Sr, 74, of Orange, Va., went to be with the lord on April 28, 2022, after a long hard battle with cancer. He was surrounded by all of his Family and friends that he loved so very much. Delma was an outstanding Father, Husband, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, and Brother. He was a dedicated family man and a phenomenal friend to those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Delma was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Audrey Via Moubray; mother and father Emma Frances Moubray and Charles “Charlie” Newton Moubray; and two sister’s Rosa Hahn and Dot Boardman.

Delma leaves behind one brother Charles Moubray and wife Marlene; two Daughter’s Sheila Moubray Madison, Emma Moubray Wood and Husband Tim; his son Delma Franklin Moubray Jr “DJ” and his wife Pam. Two special friends of his and his wife’s, Deborah Hickman and Daughter Jamie.

Delma was blessed with 12 grandchildren; Ryan Madison and wife Stephanie; Taylor Madison; Shayne Frazier and fiancé Ashley; Katlyn Ducca and fiancé Chris; Kayla Wood; Kristen Wood and fiancé Treavor; Brian Butler; Destiny Moubray; River Moubray; Alicia “ Lisa ” Gibson; Mikey Moubray; and Harley Moubray. In addition, two Great granddaughters; Lynnsie Madison; and Kinsley Frazier.

He was a self-taught musician who’s love for music began as a young boy. Through the years he learned to play almost any string instrument. He played the guitar, fiddle, mandolin, banjo and last but not least, his favorite, the steel guitar. He played in many bands and had the great honor of playing lead guitar at the Grand Ole Opry. His greatest loves were his family, friends and fellow musicians. Delma had many friends who looked up to and respected him as a musician including Tim and Donald Truslow, fellow musicians.

The family would like to thank Dr. Prichard, Dr. Marino, Dr. Deborah Adams, and their teams for their exceptional care and compassion these past few years. Also, a special thank you to Dr. Mann, Lisa Olka , Lisa Stone and Mindy, all of the Hospice of Piedmont, for providing the extra support that DJ and Pam needed during Dad’s journey.

The family will hold a celebration of life for Delma and Audrey at The Shelter in Orange, on June 12, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. until 6 p.m. This is open to anyone who would like to attend.
