Wade Lee Dickinson Sr., age 63, of Gordonsville, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. Born on February 8, 1961, he was the son of the late Joseph Dickinson and Virginia B. Dickinson Mays. In addition to his parents, Wade was preceded in death by his brother, William "Bo" Brewster.
Known affectionately as "Snake" and "Uncle Snake" by his family and friends, Wade was a hardworking man with a heart of gold who never hesitated to lend a hand, even if you didn't ask for it. He believed in paying it forward but never wanted anything in return. Wade worked in construction his whole life, taking pride in building and fixing things with skill and dedication. He had a knack for finding the silver lining, even when the clouds rolled in. He enjoyed relaxing, cracking jokes, and savoring a good plate of fried chicken. He also loved tinkering on vehicles with his sons, passing down his mechanical skills and love for working with his hands. Wade took a genuine interest in his daughters' hobbies, always getting involved and supporting their passions. His sense of humor and positive outlook brightened even the darkest days.
Wade is survived by his loving wife, Sonya Dickinson; his six children, Timothy Dickinson, Wade Dickinson Jr., Jebby Burdette, Tiersa Bowen, Kayla Dickinson, and Kaleb Dickinson; his great-niece, Caleah Castle, whom he considered a daughter; and eight grandchildren who adored their Grandfather. He is also survived by five siblings: Neely Bettis, Bobby Brewster, Jerry Brewster, Wane Dickinson, and Gary Dickinson.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, January 3, 2025, at Preddy Funeral Home in Gordonsville, Virginia. This will be a private gathering for family and close friends. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made directly to them to assist during this difficult time.
