Stanley P. Miller, originally from Clearfield County, Pa., passed away on October 21, 2021, three days after his 96th birthday. He passed in his sleep at his daughter’s home in Brightwood, Va. where he had been living for the past eight years. He is predeceased by his wife, Clarabelle (Harper) and his daughter Kathy, three brothers, a sister, and a half-brother.
He is survived by his daughter, Sandra and husband Eugene Essner; daughter, Betsy Fox; and his son, Stanley (Rusty) Miller and wife Gayle. Stan had four grandchildren, Greg Essner, Kayla and Matthew Fox, and Alisha Miller. He also had four great-grandchildren, Emily and Gregory Essner and Jackson and Eliana Miller.
Stan served 3 years in the U. S. Navy as a radioman during WWII in the Pacific. He also ran Miller’s Restaurant on 3rd Street in Clearfield, Pa. with his brother Chauncey for many years before going to Penn State and working in several dining halls there. He was active for many years in the Christ United Methodist Church in Clearfield, Pa. And in more recent years attended Mt. Zion UMC in Oak Park, Va. Stan absolutely loved his family and all his grand dogs. He was known for his pies and loved baking for friends and family.
Everyone who knew him, loved him. He was a class act and gentle soul with a heart of gold. He will be greatly missed.
A graveside service will be held at a later date.
