Hettie “Bernice” Tanner Dudley, 94, of Orange, left this earth for her heavenly home on Friday, October 29, 2021.
She was born May 20, 1927 in Madison County, one of 16 children of the late Joseph Earl Tanner and Emma Weaver Tanner.
She was preceded in death by her husband, of 68 years, John Linwood Dudley and 13 of her siblings.
She is survived by her two daughters Linda D. Berry and husband Donald “Buck” of Troy, Va. and Janet D. Coleman and husband Brian of Louisa, Va.; two grandchildren, John W. Hawkins of Charlottesville and Courtney L. Coleman of Lousia; two great-grandchildren, Lauren and Julia Hawkins, sisters Ruby Riner and Doris McDaniel, brother Robert Tanner and constant companion Chloe Lynn her dog.
She was a homemaker and member of Zion Baptist Church. She will be greatly missed by those that knew her.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Graham Cemetery in Orange. Pastor Jeff Shiffett will be officiating. A family night will be held on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 from 6 until 7 p.m. at Preddy Funeral Home.
