Shelby Jean Utz, 84 of Mechanicsville, formally of Madison, Va. passed away on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at her home. She was born on July 25, 1937 to the late Thomas Wilson Utz, Sr. and Edith Virginia Estes Utz. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Valorie Katherine Derise and a sister Doris Ann Aylor.

She is survived by her daughter, Christy Jean Hensely; brother, Thomas Wilson Utz, Jr. and wife Shiho; sister, Sarah Jane Mitchell and husband Bill; grandchild; Melissa Hensley Adams and husband David; great-grandchild, Ethan Lee Adams; and brother-in-law, Lloyd Aylor.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, August 20, 2021 at Preddy Funeral Home in Madison with Rev. Bill Ponn officiating. Interment will be private.
