Sharon Denise Taylor, 54 of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 11, 1968 in Lynchburg, Va. She was preceded in death by her brother, Craig Peery.


Sharon was loved and admired by many people, including her students, colleagues, friends, and family. Her four children were lucky to have such a loving and supportive mother. If she wasn’t traveling the country with her sons for hockey, she was cheering on her daughter in a volleyball tournament. She also never missed an opportunity to attend academic achievement celebrations for her kids (and take a million pictures). Her favorite activities were cheering on the Washington Capitals, driving her Corvette, and drinking a glass of wine in the summertime. She also loved spending time with her best friends, Jana and Sonja, or soaking up some rays on a beach in Florida. Not only was she an adored mom, she was also an accomplished scholar. After achieving her Bachelor of Science in Business from Liberty University, she received a Master of Business Administration from Lynchburg College. Her career path led her to becoming a business teacher at Madison County High School, where she was beloved by her students and colleagues. She loved many people, but above all, she loved her family; who, without Sharon, would not be the incredible people they are today.


She is survived by her parents, Elbert Matthew Peery, Jr. and Linda Freeman Peery of Lynchburg; husband, Rodney Dean Taylor; daughter, Brittany Nicole Tyree; sons, Wyatt Christian Taylor and wife Maggie Lynn; Ethan Garrett Taylor; and Cole Everett Taylor; brother, Dennis Peery and wife Anu, and their children, Maya and Dilan; sister, Crystal Reynolds and husband Rob, and their children, Claire and Caroline.


A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Preddy Funeral Home Chapel in Madison. Interment will be private with family only. Pastor Adam Schwenk will officiate.
