   Robert Lee Turner, 84, of Madison County, passed away on Thursday, December 2, 2021, at Dogwood Village of Orange County.

 

   Born Oct. 29, 1937, in Madison County, he was the 7th of 13 children born to the late William Allen Turner, Sr. and Viola Lavinia Cousins Turner.

 

   Robert (Bobby, Bob) graduated from George Washington Carver Regional High School on June 9, 1958. He drove the school bus in High School. We continue to thank him for his loyal service as an Army Veteran. He was stationed at Ft. Sill, Lawton, Oklahoma. He was also an invaluable Certified Nursing Assistant during the 70’s at Dogwood Village. How thankful we are that he spent his last years there among friends. He was a contractor with his brothers and father at William A. Turner & Sons. He served as Chairman of the Deacon Board at Oak Grove Baptist Church. He also loved to sing. He joined the many joyful voices of the Wayland Blue Ridge Choir and the B.G. Battle Chorus.

 

   He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of fifty-two years, Barbara Ann Tinsley Turner, and six of his siblings: William “Sonny” Turner, Malvin “Jack” Turner, Queen Ann Turner, Shirley Turner Washington, James “Jim” Turner, and Viola “Julia” Turner Greene.

 

    He is survived by his devoted daughter, Lisa Janell Turner of FL, and two granddaughters: Turner Elisabeth Hatchett of FL, and Madison Elisabeth Hatchett, who has followed her grandfather’s footsteps into the Army, stationed at Ft. Humphreys, South Korea.

 

   He is also survived by three sisters: Astorie Turner Acty, Letitia Nancy Turner, both of Madison and Jean Turner Barber, of Richmond, VA, three brothers: Charles A. Turner and his wife, Loyonne, Eric J. Turner and his wife, Peggy, all of Madison, and Gilbert F. Turner and his wife Tresa of Burke, Va; sisters-in-law: Molly C. Turner of Orange, VA. MarthaTurner Riddick of Somerset, NJ, and Doris M. Turner of Madison VA.; brothers-in-law: Pembroke Washington of Woodbridge, VA, and Gerald Monroe of Jacksonville, FL, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many, many friends.

 

   In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church...the Church that he loved.
