Robert E. Garber
April 08, 1949 – August 28, 2021
Robert (Bob) E. Garber, 72, of Madison, VA, passed into the glorious presence of Jesus Christ on Saturday, August 28, 2021.
Bob was born to Bill and Bette (Walker) Garber of New Hope, Virginia on April 8, 1949. He was the second of six children. At fifteen he attended a tent revival with his mother and sisters and accepted Christ as his Savior and Lord. He graduated from Fort Defiance H.S. in 1967 and from Virginia Tech in 1971. While at Tech he met his future bride, Liz, at a Campus Crusade for Christ meeting. It culminated in wedding bells on June 20, 1971.
After receiving his Masters Degree from Madison College, he taught agriculture-education and shop class at Madison County High School for years before accepting a position at American Woodmark in Orange County. He was a member and elder of Northside Baptist Church in Charlottesville for many years. In 2009 he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. Though faced with an uncertain future, Bob continued to invest in his three passions: Jesus Christ and His Word, the people around him, and nature.
Bob was preceded in death by his father in 2001, his mother in 2013, and his brother Charles in 1968. Survivors include his wife Liz, his son Charlie and two children David and Annabelle; his daughter Katie Miller and husband Andrew and their two children Weston and Levi; his brother Samuel Garber and wife Barbara; and his sisters Sara Ayres and husband Hunter, Christine Brinley, and Rebecca Johnson and her husband Bob, as well as many nieces and nephews.
