Maria Lou Reid, 87, of Zachary Taylor Hwy, Unionville, passed away on Monday, September 26, 2022, at the University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville. She was born on December 28, 1934 in Culpeper, and was the daughter of the late Clarence Lewis Sr. and Fannie Taylor Lewis. She was also predeceased by her husband David Reid.

She was a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Culpeper, the music master at Good Hope Baptist Church in Norman Va., and retired as the accounts payable manager for the Rappahannock Rapidan Community Services Board.

She is survived by two daughters Denise Chapa of Woodbridge, and Diane Slade of Unionville; a granddaughter Ashley Slade Harwood and husband Colin, of Pasadena Ca.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. at the Preddy Funeral Chapel, Orange with a private interment in the Reid Family Cemetery. Pastor Ernest Thompson and Pastor James McIntosh will officiate. All attending the service are asked to please wear masks. The family will receive friends one hour before the funeral service. Preddy Funeral Home of Orange is assisting the family.
