Louise Weakley Wheeler              February 23, 2023

After a brief illness, Louise Weakley Wheeler died on February 23, 2023 at the age of 89 surrounded by family at her daughter’s home in Madison, Virginia. The widow of Isaac (Ike) Wheeler, Jr. who passed on December 31, 2017, she leaves behind her daughter, Sandra Wheeler Flinders and her husband, Buzz; her son, Jody and wife, Belinda; and her son Marty and his wife Terri. 

Louise was born on February 3,1934 to Kelly and Georgia Weakley who predeceased her.  She grew up in a large family with five brothers Joe (deceased), Hubert (deceased), Floyd (deceased), Lawrence and Roger and three sisters, Ellen Pritt, Grace Kelliher, and Carol Ford.  After briefly living in Texas and then in Kentucky, Louise and Ike moved back to Culpeper and ultimately to Madison while their children were young. Immediately following high school, Louise worked for C&P Telephone (Verizon) and then returned to work for them when she came back to Virginia in 1960 until her retirement in 1991. 

In addition to her children and siblings, Louise is survived by her beloved grandchildren who were the lights of her life, Brittany Wheeler Breon (husband, Tyler), Alex Wheeler (fiancé Brittany), Lindsay Wheeler (fiancé Evan), and Chris Wheeler, and two great grand-daughters, Scarlett and Harper Breon as well as numerous nieces and nephews. 

A Friends and Family night to celebrate her life will be held at Preddy Funeral Home in Madison from 6 to 8 PM on Thursday, March 2. Funeral services will be held at Novum Baptist Church at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 3 followed by interment at Culpeper National Cemetery at 1PM. The family would especially like to thank the caregivers from Home Instead and Legacy Hospice for their compassion and attentive care.
