In Loving Memory
Jerry J. Butler, 84, of Madison, VA, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 7, 2023. Jerry was born in Milan, TN on August 28th, 1938, to the late Fred and Mabel Butler.
Jerry grew up in Caruthersville, MO and received his B.S. in Chemistry from Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy, and his Master’s in Forensic Science from GW University. Jerry was a Special Agent with the FBI for 20 years: Laboratory, Academy Instructor, and Inspection Staff, he served in Dallas, Alexandria, DC, and Quantico.
After retirement, Jerry started his own business; Forensics Science Associates & Co.; a Private Investigation firm that taught many classes and certifications. He also continued to work as a Contract Special Investigator for the FBI for 30 years. After moving to Madison, he was involved with many local organizations, served on the Board of Supervisors, was a member of Beth Car Baptist Church and loved spending time with family and friends.
Jerry married Judy in 1964, they had 4 children and 8 grandchildren. He loved being a PopPop/Grandpa to his grandkids and he was very proud of them.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Judy Butler, and their four children; son Keith Butler; daughter Kelly Miller and husband Pepe, and their three children Charlie, Tony, and Cody; daughter Kari Cianciotti and husband Jeff, and their three children Tyler Rae, Josh, and Luke; son Kevin Butler and wife Suzanne, and their two children Bennett and James; and a sister Lou Newton and husband Kenny.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters; Jeanette McCrate, Gayle Dunn, and brother Tex Butler.
A celebration of life will be held at 12 pm, Friday, July 14, 2023, at Beth Car Baptist Church in Madison, VA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
