James "Jim" Maxwell Lohr                                        October 8, 2024

James Maxwell Lohr, 74 of Brightwood, Va. passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at his home. He was born on July 9, 1950 to the late Homer Maxwell Lohr and Frances Tatum Lohr.

Jim retired from C & P Telephone Company/Bell Atlantic/Verizon after 44 years of service. He enjoyed dancing and going to parties, social events and loved going out to eat. Jim never met a stranger.  He was a lifelong farmer and loved raising cattle. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, and teacher. Jim took pride in providing for his family. Even after retirement, he didn’t stop working and worked up until the very end. He was on the Madison Board of Zoning Appeals and a member of the Madison Young Farmers.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Lawson Lohr; daughters, Megan McHale and husband Danny and Ashley Lohr; sons, Wayland Lohr and wife Barbara and Travis Lohr and wife Sara; brother, Wesley Lohr; grandchildren, Hunter Koontz, Maxwell Lohr, Bodie Lohr, Piper Lohr, Scout Lohr, Lane McHale and Dottie McHale.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, October 14, 2024, at Preddy Funeral Home Chapel in Madison with Bob Slaven officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service, from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the funeral home.
