Helen Raynor Shoemaker, 79, of Orange, VA, passed away peacefully in the presence of her children on Sunday, April 9, 2023, at Dogwood Village of Orange. She was born on May 13, 1943, in Albemarle County, to the late, Russell and Margaret Raynor.


She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Thomas (Glenn) of Orange, VA; her son, David Dyer (Donna Lou) of Oak Park, VA; her stepson, Matthew Shoemaker (Elania) of NOVA; her brother, Albert Raynor of Orange, VA; her sisters, Lucille Smith of Orange, VA, and Dorothy Taylor of Greene Co., VA; her sister-in-law, Mary Raynor; her three grandchildren, Colleen Dykstra (Clayton), Emily Lou Dyer, and DJ Dyer; two great-grandchildren, Knox Dyer, and Kove Dyer; her dear friend, John L. Dyer; and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Crenshaw Shoemaker; her brothers, David Raynor, James Raynor, and Richard Raynor (Betty); her sister, Esther Beahm (Thomas); and brothers-in-law, Leonard Smith, and Lieut Taylor.


A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Graham Cemetery with Pastor Wayne Carney officiating.


Memorial donations may be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association Central and Western Virginia, 355 Rio Rd W Ste 102 Charlottesville, VA 22901.
