Mrs. Palmer grew up on a family farm in Orange County Va., attended Orange County High School and married Jim, who was serving in the US Air Force. She began her life as a devoted and caring wife and mother that involved moves to New York, California and then to Charlottesville, Winchester and finally to Richmond, Virginia. She enjoyed and faithfully volunteered her time to her children’s PTA meetings, school events and church related activities and was an active member of Gayton Baptist Church lead by Senior Pastor, Bryon LePere here in Richmond.
Mrs. Palmer’s love for family and friends was felt by all in her path and she took incredible pride and joy in seeing that her family stayed together and strong. Her younger days growing up on the family farm instilled in her an ongoing love and care for animals that she passed along to her entire family and enjoyed throughout her life. She also began enjoying bluegrass and country music while growing up and learned how to play several musical instruments by ear alone.
The care and compassion provided by Dr. Patel and the staff of The Laurels at University Park was a great comfort to Mrs. Palmer and her entire family. In lieu of floral offerings the family suggests considering a contribution in her name to a local animal shelter or the charity of your choice. A funeral service will be held at the Preddy Funeral Home Chapel in Orange at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, February, 19, 2025. Burial will be at a later date.
