Frederick James Wease, 97, of Orange, Virginia entered eternal rest on Sunday, August 14, 2022, at Dogwood Village Senior Living. After 29 years since her passing, Fred now joins his beloved wife, Margaret Frances (Mahanes). Fred was the first of four children born to Benjamin Raleigh Wease and Anna Emily Arnold Wease. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings; Paul Roy Wease, Benjamin Raleigh Wease, Jr., and Mary Anna Wease Bush, as well as his only grandson Nicholas “Nick” Dovel.

 Fred is survived by his daughters Carol Anne Lorien and Bobbie Sue Dovel; his stepdaughters Brenda Odham Retter and Marie Rouzer; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

Fred lived a full life. He enjoyed spending time in the mountains; he was an avid hunter and fisherman; he served his country in World War II and was held as a prisoner of war in Germany; he retired as a civil servant from Fort. Belvoir, Virginia as a skilled carpenter; he served is community at the Occoquan-Woodbridge-Lorton Volunteer Fire Department; and he volunteered for over 20 years at Dogwood Village Senior Living in Orange, for which he received the Virginia Adult Volunteer of the Year Award.

 Family will receive friends at Preddy Funeral Home on Saturday, August 20, 2022, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A celebration of Fred’s life will be held immediately after at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Zion United Methodist Church, 1674 Zion Road, Troy, VA. Reception will be held immediately thereafter, also at Zion United Methodist Church.

 In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that memorial contributions be made to the Dogwood Village Foundation, 120 Dogwood Lane, Orange, VA 22960.
