Dan Fulmer Griffin, 69, of Zion Crossroads, left for his heavenly home on the morning of March 30, 2022. 

 Dan was born, February 9, 1953, in Newport News, VA. to John Daniel Griffin and Eunice Dees Griffin. His younger years were spent playing baseball and participating in many Boy Scout activities, including one Jamboree in Idaho. He graduated from Warwick High School, where he was active in band and Yearbook Club. 

 He received a B.S. in Economics from the University of Virginia in 1975. Dan worked as a senior savings and loan examiner for the Federal Home Loan Bank Board and a commissioned bank examiner for F.D.I.C. In addition, he served in various management capacities throughout the country, working for F.S.L.I.C. and F.D.I.C. in the area of acquisitions and mergers. His work took him to Dallas, Texas in 1990, where he met and later married the love of his life, Kay Martin Griffin. He was then transferred to Lexington, Kentucky and worked until his retirement. 

 After retirement, Dan and Kay moved to his beloved Charlottesville so he could enjoy attending University of Virginia sports. He faithfully purchased season tickets for football games for forty-five years. One of his proudest sports experiences was attending the Final Four Basketball Tournament in Minneapolis where his Cavaliers won the Basketball National Championship in 2019. 

 Dan was also an avid reader and kept records, reading more than five thousand books and well over a million pages of pleasure reading in his lifetime. He was a lifelong Methodist and a member of Southern Hills Methodist Church in Lexington, Kentucky

 He is predeceased by his parents, a favorite uncle, Tom Griffin and his brother-in-law George Kingston. 

 He is survived by his wife, Kay Griffin, two children by marriage, Marty Martin (Jennifer) of Carrollton, TX. and Kelli Martin Bone (Chad) of Murrell’s Inlet S.C. He was also proud to be called Dan Dan by four grandchildren Mick and Mia Martin of Carrollton, Texas and Cash and Ace Bone of Murrell’s Inlet S.C. He is also survived by his sister Florence Griffin Kingston of Newport News, VA. his niece, Kasey Kingston (Jake) and great nephew Eric Grever of Newport News, VA. his Aunt, Louise Griffin of Elizabeth City, NC. and cousins in North Carolina and Alabama. 

 A Memorial Celebration of Dan’s life will be held on Saturday May 7th at Spring Creek Golf Club, 109 Clubhouse Way, Zion Crossroads, VA, in the Grandis room from 2 until 5 for friends and family.
