Corinne Swanson Ligon Throckmorton              July 13, 2023

Corinne Swanson Ligon Throckmorton, 96, of Dickerson Lane, Barboursville, passed on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at her residence. She was born on July 7, 1927, in Scottsburg, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Hassie Ligon and Gracie Ligon. She was also predeceased by her loving husband James Grannon Throckmorton.

Corinne was the most amazing and beautiful Mother who inspired her children to have strength, perseverance and to stand up for what was right and what we believe in. To never let anyone take advantage, and to always be grateful and enjoy all that is beautiful around us. Her neverending love is with us always.

Corinne belonged to the Eastern Star, and Women of the Moose and loved more than anything playing bingo and having everyone in her home. She loved her family more than anything. Growing up Corinne was the top basketball player in her town.

She is survived by her daughter Teresa Throckmorton and Wayne Rothbaum of Delray Beach, FL; two sons Mark Throckmorton and Brenda Throckmorton of Orange, and Todd Throckmorton and Sheila Alvis of Barboursville; seven grandchildren Eric Throckmorton, Lara Lam, Christopher Rollins, Ashley Rollins, Jaron Rothbaum, Dagan Rothbaum, and Caden Rothbaum; six great grandchildren Michelle Throckmorton, Lindsay Throckmorton, Abigail “Abby” Throckmorton, Jaxon Lam, Maverick James, and Savannah Rollins; two brothers Alfred Ligon and Billy Ligon both of Scottsburg, Va; and her loving nurse, Claudia Krobatsh.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 16, 2023, at 1:30 P.M. at the Preddy Funeral Chapel, Orange with interment in the Graham Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon to 1:30 on Sunday before the funeral. Preddy Funeral Home of Orange is assisting the family.
