Carroll Montgomery Gay, 86, of Orange, VA, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 7, 2024. Known for his kind and caring nature, Monty touched the lives of all who knew him with his warmth and generosity.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carroll Wilson Gay and Daisy Virginia Floyd Gay, his sister Elaine Spitzer, son Carroll Gay, and step-grandson Caleb Smith.

Monty was a football star in his youth and had a lifelong love for the game. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially rabbit hunting, a pastime that brought him joy and created lasting memories with family and friends.

Monty leaves behind his beloved wife, Mirdza Gay, as well as his stepdaughter Pam Smith and her husband Gary; his stepsons Elby Barden, Jr. and his wife Debbie, Terry Barden and his wife Karen, Mark Barden, and his companion Janet Lacy. He was a beloved grandfather to Kimberly, Hannah, Maggie, Daisy Jo, Olivia, Justin, Christy, Eric, Kelsey, Erin, and Ian, and a proud great-grandfather to Courtney, Chadwick, Annabelle, Audrey, Michael, Elin, Eversen, Clay, Ledger, Callie, and Paityn. He was also blessed with a great-great-granddaughter, Bailey.

A funeral service to celebrate Monty’s life will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Macedonia Christian Church, located at 24077 Lahore Road, Unionville, VA. A private burial will follow.
