Audrey Rene Madison Glass                                                     November 10, 2024

Audrey Rene Madison Glass, 91, of Barboursville passed away on November 10, 2024, at home, surrounded by those she loved. She was predeceased in death by her husband, James Franklin (“Frank”) Glass; her parents, Charlie Payne Madison and Gladys Rene Garrison Madison; her daughter, Sandra Carol Glass Morris; her granddaughter, Pamela Ann Morris; and her brother, Charlie Truman Madison. She is survived by her son, James Michael Glass and his friend, Deborah Jones, of Louisa; her son-in-law, Stephen W. Morris and his wife, Catherine, of Ruckersville; her granddaughter, Katherine Leigh Harlow and her partner, Aditya Singh, of Charlottesville; her grandson, Stephen W. Morris, Jr. and his wife, Kathleen; her great-granddaughters, Hailey Nicole Morris and Keegan Ann Morris, of Ruckersville; and her great-grandson, Brant Daniel Stanley, of Charlottesville. She is also survived by her sister, Thelma Madison and her friend, JT Daniel, of Barboursville; her nieces, Brenda Madison and her husband, Roy Gilbert, of Oak Island, NC, and Carol Madison Bingler and her husband, Alvin, of Wintergreen. She is also survived by her cat, Joy, whom she adored and who lived up to the name Audrey gave her.

Audrey was born July 11, 1933, in Barboursville and graduated from McIntire High School in Charlottesville. In addition to raising two children, Audrey worked at a law firm and for the Albemarle County School System. Audrey was a most gifted crafter; she was a master quilter, knitter, and crocheter, but she loved her jigsaw out in her garage most of all. She made numerous wooden angels and other crafts for the Christmas Bazaar at the Barboursville UMC. She didn’t like to cook, but baking was a different story and there was a rush for her apple pies and her sourdough bread and if you came in her house, she would try and feed you. She was heavily involved in Barboursville UMC, including being the President of the UMW for several years. But by far, her greatest gift was the love that she shared with everyone, something that even the ravages of Alzheimer’s couldn’t steal.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024,  at 11:00 a.m. at Holly Memorial Gardens, with the Reverend Ethan Shearer officiating.

The family would like to thank those who helped take such good care of her in her final months, including Delores and Rebecca Buckner, Jennifer Gammon, Melissa Hayden, Sandra Kirby, and Takira Mallory, along with Caryn Marshall of Medi Home Hospice.
