Allan William Washington “Groundhog” Gordonsville VA formally Madison VA departed this earthly home on Sunday, May 20 for his heavenly home by way of an 18-wheeler. Allan arrived on this earth on February 2, 1966, on Groundhog Day to Carl William Washington and Flora Ragland Washington. He was a graduate of Madison County High School Class of 1984. He was a 4-Her and 4-H All Star and well as a FFA member. He started driving an 18-wheeler right out of high school. His first job was with Jay Marshall, Unionville VA. He never looked back, he drove for many companies like Walton Mountain, Grayson Mitchell, Smith Transport and Mikeys to name a few and travelled many miles and many states. He was known as “Groundhog”. He is preceded by this father, Carl Washington and foster son Michael Anthony Franklin, Sr. He was survived by his mother Flora Washington, his only sister Loretta R. Washington, his foster daughter, Samantha Franklin, his nephew Spencer D. Washington. Adopted grandchildren’s Michael Franklin, Jr. D’Andre and Karla Henson, Tristen and Haven Landis Grand niece and nephew Brittany and William Paul Washington. Uncles Matt and George Ragland and Aunt Evie Ragland. Allan was blessed to also be survived by many other loving relatives as well as dear friend Terry Water, Glen Banks, Jimmy Minor, James R. Bailey and others. Many cousins, friends, and the Trucker everywhere. Special trucker Friend Thanks to the doctors at Martha Jefferson and Special Thanks for Hospice of Piedmont for helping him being comfortable and have dignity.
He will be funeralized on Monday, May 29, the family will receive friends 11:00 – 12:00noon with funeral at 12:00 noon at Preddy Funeral Home Gordonsville Va. Apostle James Ragland will officiate. In Lieu of flower family requesting financial support for this funeral expense.
