Alexander Birrell Cuppett, 82 of Madison, passed away on October 8, 2021 in Charlottesville, Va. He was born on June 20, 1939 to the late Birrell Wesley Cuppett and Geneva Anna Skipper Cuppett. 


A veteran of the United States Army, he earned many honors including the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. As a civilian, he worked in the Pentagon, serving for several years on the Joint Chiefs of Staff. A faithful blood donor, he was a member of the Society of 200.


He was preceded in death by his son, Donald Glenn Cuppett. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Elaine Latimer Cuppett; a daughter, Cathleen Gail Cuppett; a daughter-in-law, Leslie Cuppett; and grandchildren, David Josiah Cuppett and Michael Joseph Cuppett.


A service was held at Culpeper National Cemetery.
