William “Bill” Maxton 66 of Ruckersville passed away after short but courageous battle with cancer on June 17, 2022. Bill was born on July 20, 1955 in Radford, Va. to the late Milton and Ann Maxton. He is also preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; special sister-in-law Angela Faye Sprouse and her son, Tyler “Buck”; also, his best buddy “Lil Bit”

Bill is survived by the love of his life and wife for 32 years Karen Christin Maxton; three sons, William Matthew Maxton, Aaron Christopher Maxton and Richard Andrew Maxton referred to as “My Boy”; sister Suzanne “Suzie” Maxton of Ruckersville; brother Milton Murray Maxton II: daughters, Brandy and Brittany of Mineral; special granddaughters, Mackenzie Grace, Olivia Deville, and Victoria Tyler Maxton, who dearly loved their “Paw Paw”: mother-in-law Arlene Harvey and brothers-in-law Richard “Scott” Harlow wife Lisa, and David Sprouse; special Aunt Jeannie White and cousins, Mellisa, Virginia and Thomas; and other cousins, family and friends.

Bill was a graduate of Louisa County High School in 1973 after which Bill “Mad Max” was the over the road and dump truck driver for most of hist life but had his hand in just about everything outside of work. His resume was a “Big Book”. His motto was “Money”, was just something you earned to trade for something you wanted. He enjoyed owning and driving classic vehicles. Karen never knew what kind of car or truck he would pull in the driveway. His knowledge of automobiles was phenomenal, and he could tell you the year, make and model of any auto he passed on the highway. Before Bill became sick, he spent every weekend at blue grass festivals. Classic car shows, camping or just socializing with family and friends which he loved. He always had a joke or a prank to pull on friends and family keeping everyone laughing. He will be missed by all; our world will never be the same without Bill in our lives.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Thursday, June 23, 2022 at Preddy Funeral Home Chapel in Madison with interment in Holly Memorial Gardens in Charlottesville. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home.
