Virginia Caroline Shifflett Jackson, 81 of Madison, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at her home. She was born on January 30, 1941 to the late Johnnie Lewis Shifflett and Marie Knighting Shifflett. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Henry Jackson, Jr.; brother, Delma Shifflett; sister, Christine Shifflett Yowell, and great granddaughter, Lily Riley.

 Caroline was a member of Wolftown Pentecostal Chapel. She was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend. Everyone that met her knew her as "Nanny." Her faith was unshakable. Whenever hardship came, she always knew that God had it all under control. If "Nanny" prayed and said it was fine, we knew it was fine. She was the true meaning of Grandmother. Every Sunday without hesitation she prepared a meal made with love for her family and anyone else whom she welcomed with open arms into her home. She was the glue that held everyone together. We will remember her legacy as faith, love, and nurturing ways. Her family was raised within her love, prayers, and values. She will live on in each of them forever.

She is survived by her daughters, Deborah Henshaw Racer (Kenny) and Lisa Marie Scruggs; son, Gary Owen Henshaw; brothers, Elvin Shifflett( Betty) and Frederick Shifflett; grandchildren, Barry Racer (Lenora), Brandon Racer ( fiancee’ Jennifer), Kelly Racer, Toni Jenkins( Rodney), Tonya Aylor (Curt), Crystal Henshaw and Christopher Henshaw; great-grandchildren, Gavin Racer, Faith Morris, Wyatt Berry, Gabe Berry, Caden Berry, Layna Berry, Aliyah Aylor, Lilli Aylor, Patrick Jenkins, Leonard Jenkins, Harlie Riley, Willow Riley; nephew, Robbie Yowell and wife Anita; niece, Brenda Yowell; great-niece, Ashley Yowell (James); great-nephew, Jason Yowell (Megan); great-great niece, Charlotte; great-great nephew, Cooper; great-great niece, Zoe; special brother in-law Bernard Henshaw and family; special caregiver Shelby Laird, and many other nieces, nephews and family members.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Fairview Christian Church Cemetery in Hood, Va. with Pastor Jeff Shifflett officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
