Thomas Garland Donaghy, 87, was called home on May 2nd, 2023, at UVA Hospital in Charlottesville. He was born on May 29, 1935, to Harry Hagerty Donaghy and Nellie Smith Payne. He is survived by his wife Maxine of 63 years, son Keith and wife Hope, daughter Terri and husband Erik, his grandchildren Brandon, Bradley, Erin, and Katie, along with many great-grandchildren whom he loved endlessly. After returning from his military duty as a jet engine mechanic with the United States Air Force, he spent his career of 63 years working in agriculture machinery. Many met Tommy while he was employed at Young Equipment, F&R Equipment, New Holland, and Piedmont Power, where he finished out his career. He was dedicated to his daily routine of coffee at Hardee’s followed by offering quality advice and reminiscing with friends at Piedmont Power. Tommy loved spending his time at Hog Camp, tinkering with equipment, driving up on Skyline Drive, and playing BINGO every Friday night. Visitation will be held at Preddy’s Funeral Home in Orange on Friday, May 5^th, 2023, from 5-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Orange County Volunteer Fire Department in Tommy’s honor.
