Spencer Craig West Jr. 23 years old fell asleep in death on May 11 ,2023 at Hospice of the Piedmont in Charlottesville Virginia. He was the son of the late Spencer C. West Sr. and Wanda R. West. Spencer was born in Georgetown, Washington D.C. at the Columbia Hospital for Women on September 7, 1999. He attended Orange County School. He was raised as a Jehovah’s Witness. He attended the Kingdom Hall no matter where he lived. Spencer affectionately known as “Manny” greatest love was his mother and sister. He loved the sound of his mother's voice from infancy. He would say “hi” to his sister Jazamine, Grandma Gertie and Uncle Steve daily. Before his health declined, Spencer loved eating for many years and enjoyed home cooked meals that his mom made him. He loved nature such as bird watching, the wind blowing the leaves on the trees and the different colors of flowers and butterfly watching. He also enjoyed listening to soft and upbeat music. He was old skool like his Mom and sister Jazamine. But his favorite was the Sing to Jehovah Kingdom Melodies, he listened to those songs daily until he passed. Although he was limited verbally, he had his special way of communicating with his eyes and special sounds that his family understood. Spencer was extremely easy to love. Every morning his mother would tell him “it’s a privilege to take care of you Buddy” and then they would pray together. He loved being kissed by his Mom, sister, Grandma Gertie and he loved head rubs from his Uncle Steve. His Aunts Nae’, Chrissy, Angie, and his late Aunt Dee spoiled him with love and special gifts. Spencer is survived by his mother Wanda R. West, Sister Jazamine D. West and Grandmother Virgina G. Perry. Spencer also leaves to mourn a host of Aunts, Great Aunts, Uncles, cousins and many many friends that look forward to seeing him again in perfect health in paradise. Wanda and Jazamine would like to acknowledge the UVA Hospital staff on the 3rd and 6th floor, who cared for Spencer. Also many thanks to Hospice of the Piedmont who made Spencer’s end of care life very comfortable. A special thanks to the many congregations of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses that he attended during his lifetime. The family would like to thank everyone for their love and support for the many texts, calls, cards, flowers, emails and especially prayers
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday May 27, 2023 at Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall, 101 Stephens Loop, Ruckersville, VA 22968.
