It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we share the passing of our beloved Sharon Lynn Jones. A cherished soul, Sharon peacefully departed this life on Friday, January 3rd, 2025, at her home in Madison, Virginia. Sharon was a beacon of light to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her, and her memory will forever be a source of comfort and joy to her family and friends.
Born and raised in Madison, Virginia, Sharon was the beloved daughter of the late Lillian Blakey and John Ruffner. She was a proud graduate of Madison County High School. She was a devoted and loving mother to her three children, Antonio Terrell, Adrian Jones, and Anthony Jones, and a doting grandmother to her precious Layla Rose Terrell
Sharon's journey through life was one of love, resilience, and service. She was a woman of many talents, with a remarkable career spanning multiple fields. She dedicated over a decade of her life to Liberty Fabrics, pursued her passions as a licensed mechanic and masseuse, and found her true calling as a Home Health Care nurse for Hospice of Piedmont in Charlottesville, Virginia. Her tender care and compassion touched countless lives, reflecting her generous and selfless spirit.
Her faith in God and her love for the Lord shined brightly on Sundays as a member of Oak Union Baptist Church. Sharon’s radiant smile, warm embrace, and heartfelt singing in the church choir lifted the spirits of all who were blessed to worship alongside her. She exemplified the true meaning of being a child of God.
In addition to her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Joyce Ann Rawlings. She leaves behind a family who will forever hold her in their hearts: her significant other, Steve White; her children (Antonio Terrell, Adrian Jones, and Anthony Jones) and granddaughter (Layla Rose Terrell); her two brothers, Demond Blakey and Jonathon Humes; her two sisters, Patricia Blakey and Charlotte Goodman, whom she loved deeply; her brother-in-law, Ray Goodman; her cherished bonus sisters, Venetta Bolden and Carolyn Walker, who held a special place in her heart; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, and her loving church family.
Though we grieve her absence, we take comfort in knowing she is at peace in the arms of the Lord, reunited with loved ones who have gone before her. Sharon’s life was a gift, and her memory will be a blessing to us all.
Rest in paradise, Sharon. You were, and always will be, deeply loved.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Oak Union Baptist Church, 2000 Owensville Road, Charlottesville, Va. 22901 with interment in the church cemetery.
