Ray Chester Dodson 86 of Madison passed away Friday, October 15, 2021 at his residence. He was born April 3, 1935 in Madison to the late Willie Chester Dodson and Susie Anna Dyer Dodson. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Willie Junior Dodson and Buddy Rogers Dodson.
Mr. Dodson was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and employed for thirty years at Ross Industries in Midland, VA. He had a passion for gardening and antiquing.
He is survived by his wife, Greta Lee Dodson; daughters, Rhonda Dodson Shepherd and husband Steve of Aroda, Kelly Michelle Dodson of Henrico; a son, David Wayne Dodson and wife Jackie of Stanardsville; brothers, James Murell Dodson and Jesse May Dodson both of Henrico, Delmar Eugene Dodson and wife Shirley of Madison; sisters, Doris Arlene Freeman of Charlottesville, Rebecca Jayne Mills and husband Wayne of Henrico; grandchildren, Steven Adam Shepherd and wife Jessica of Brightwood, Brittany Leanna Souder and husband Kenneth of Madison and Seth Brown Shepherd of Aroda, Tristan Kyle Dodson and wife Sarah of Charlottesville, Cheyenne Noel Anderson, Chase Joseph Warren Anderson, Houston Levi Anderson and Caylee Nicole Dodson all of Stanardsville: great-grandchildren, Caden Noah Souder, Lux Madison Souder, Kenneth Wade Souder, Scarlett Rose' Souder all of Madison, Elijah Adam Shepherd, Avery James Shepherd, Levi Brown Shepherd and Emma Faith Shepherd all of Brightwood.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Fellowship Baptist Church with interment in Madison Memorial Gardens conducted by Pastors Dale Freeman and Chris Fitzwater. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Friday evening at Preddy Funeral Home Chapel in Madison.
