Oleta Belle “Okie” Turner Johnson of Greene County, went to be with the Lord on February 7, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Belle Clark Turner and Samuel Lincoln Turner, Sr., her brothers, Joseph and Edward Turner, her sisters, Helen Brooks, Cathy, Norma and Carol Turner and a son, Travis Johnson.
Oleta “Okie” was a loving mother of 12 kids and a loving grandmother of 18 and many great-grandchildren. She loved being outside in the summer, spending time with her kids and grandchildren. She was a one-of-a-kind woman, so strong, outspoken, funny, helpful, loving and giving. She would give you the shirt off her back, but would also put you in your place if needed.
She is survived by her husband, Harold Johnson, one sister, Louisa “Lou” Wyne, two brothers, James and Carl Turner, her sons, Carl Shortridge and wife Wendy, Chris Johnson and wife Casey, Donnie Johnson and girlfriend, Teresa, Ronnie Johnson and fiancé Kelly, George Johnson, her daughters, Mary Shortridge, Lisa Shortridge, Melissa Shortridge, Brenda Shortridge, Connie Johnson and fiancé Thomas, Kimberly Johnson, 18 grandchildren, many great-grand-children and also her best friend, Debbie Walton and her son, Robbie Gentry and wife Kimmie.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday February 15, 2023 at Preddy Funeral Home in Gordonsville with interment to follow in Ruckersville Community Cemetery. Pastor Josh Shifflett will be officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday February 13, 2023 at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be, Chris, Donnie, Ronnie, George and Tony Johnson, Carl Shortridge, Joe Lawson, James Mays and Robbie Gentry.
