Joyce Ann Cave, 83, of Madison, Virginia, passed away peacefully, entering the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, whom she loved above all else on March 14, 2025. Surrounded by her dedicated loving husband and children she made her journey complete.
She was born on April 8,1941 to the late Rufus Lewis Gallihugh and Alma Seale Gallihugh. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Michael Gallihugh, Charles Gallihugh, Roger Gallihugh; sisters, Mary Nicholson, Phyllis Jenkins and Betty “Sissy” Ayers.
She was a devoted wife to her loving husband, Leonard Cave, with whom she shared sixty-seven blessed years. Their bond was one of unwavering love and support, creating a home filled with memories and laughter.
Joyce found great joy in life’s simple pleasures. She had a deep love for gardening, mowing her grass, and caring for her beloved dogs. Whether tending to her flowers or spending time outdoors, she found peace and happiness in nature.
She was a beloved mother to Wayne Cave of Shelby, Virginia; Dennis Cave (Connie) of Rochelle, Virginia; Janet O’Connor of Lake Monticello, Virginia and Charles Cave (Teresa) of Shelby, Virginia who will forever carry her love and wisdom in their hearts. Her strength and dedication to her family were unmatched, leaving behind a legacy of love that will never fade.
Joyce is survived by siblings, Wayne Gallihugh of Culpeper, Virginia; sisters, Jean Nicholson (Bobby) of Culpeper, Virginia; Anna Cave (Dewey) of Syria, Virginia; Brenda Gallihugh of Rappahanock, Virginia, Peggy Gallihugh of Rappahanock, Virginia; and Becky Mize (Larry) of Lexington, North Carolina.
Joyce was blessed with nine grandchildren, Jamie Carpenter, Stephen Bradley Arnold, April Hogg, Shelly Cave, Justin Cave, Melissa Cave, Ashley Cave, Timothy O’Connor, Anna Cave; fourteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
A special thank you to her daughter in laws and Legacy Hospice for providing care and support with such grace.
Though she is no longer with us, her love and spirit will continue to grow in the gardens she nurtured and the family she cherished.
A memorial service to honor her life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Wolftown Pentecostal Church with Pastor Jeff Shifflett and Pastor Teddy Cave officiating.
