Johnny B. Carter, 76, of Gordonsville, was called home to be with the LORD on Sunday, Feb. 27, 2022. He was born June 24, 1945, to the late Otis Washington and Ethel Carter in Louisa County. Johnnie was preceded in death by his wife Elsie Carter, brothers James Otis Washington, and Robert James White, SR. and sisters Ella Mae Carter and Hattie Lee Holiday. He is survived by his 4 children, James “Butch” Carter (Cindy), Gloria Carter, Johnnie Carter and Angela McIntosh; siblings Frances Carter, James Carter, Leroy Carter (Margaret), Christine McMackin, James Carter-Tinsley, Tanza Laverne Carter, Lester Washington, Willie Washington and Mary Carter; 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Johnnie attended Louisa County Public Schools and was later employed by Jack Payne Horse Farm, Gordonsville Industries and a food processing company in Harrisonburg. He was baptized at an early age at Springfield Baptist Church in Troy, VA and was thankful to GOD for all His blessings. His hobby were cars, especially fast cars, watching old westerns and walking. His favorite foods were ham, fried chicken, sweet rice, sweet potato pie and ice cream. Johnnie was a great father, and he loved his family. and was also a great friend. He will be dearly missed.
Services will be held Friday, March 4, 2022, at 1 PM at Preddy’s Funeral Home in Gordonsville. Interment will follow at Springfield Baptist Church in Troy.
