Jane Burks Hunt                     April 25, 2024

Jane Burks Hunt, aged 80, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2024.

Born on July 18, 1943, in Norfolk, Virginia, Jane graduated from Tidewater Academy in Norfolk and attended William & Mary College.

Jane was a full-time mother but worked part-time in the 1960s as a model for the Charm Associates Agency and as a cheerleader for the semi-pro Norfolk Neptunes football team. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and an avid horsewoman. Jane was a founding member of the Tidewater Horse & Pony Club in the 1960s and taught riding lessons for many years in the Tidewater area before moving to Albemarle County in 1984 to establish Callanish Farm where she bred and raised show horses for many years.

A lifelong learner, Jane’s other interests included astronomy, ancient and religious history, and horticulture. She also supported numerous wildlife and nature organizations.

Jane is survived by her husband of 36 years, Gilbert “Ronnie” Hunt Sr. of Charlottesville, Virginia; daughter, Cindy Bianco and son-in-law, Jim Bianco of Louisa, Virginia;  son, Chris Morgan and daughter-in-law, Brittany Morgan of Gordonsville, Virginia; stepdaughter, Darlene Graves of Appomattox, Virginia; stepson, Ronald Hunt of Albemarle County, Virginia; stepson, Gilbert Hunt Jr. of Fluvanna County, Virginia; grandsons, Sam Morgan and Adam Peer; and granddaughters, Abigail Morgan and Molly Morgan.

She is preceded in death by her father, Walter Burks Jr. of Norfolk, Virginia; her mother, Irma W. Guy of Charlottesville, Virginia; and former husband, Cecil H. Morgan of Madison, Virginia.

A graveside memorial will be held at 11a.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at Monticello Memory Gardens in Charlottesville, Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Albemarle County SPCA, UVA’s McCormick Observatory, the Cousteau Society, or the World Wildlife Fund would be appreciated.
