Jane B. Thomas, 94, of Rochelle, VA died Friday, December 9, 2022, at The Laurels in Charlottesville, VA. Jane was born September 19, 1928, in Oak Park, VA, the daughter of the late John William Beahm and Rosa Lee Beahm. Jane worked in the Washington, D.C. area in multiple Marriott Corporation restaurants for over 42 years, retiring in 1989. Jane can be remembered for her positive spirit, beautiful smile, sense of humor and forgiving heart. She married David O. Walden in October 1948, was widowed in 1974, and remarried in February 1979 to Bernie M. Thomas. Bernie and Jane moved from Falls Church to Rochelle, VA in 1989. Jane was a devoted wife and mother who loved gardening, cooking and entertaining, and most of all socializing with friends and family. Jane was an active member of the Madison County Presbyterian Church.
Jane was the tenth of 20 children and preceded in death by nine brothers: Walter D. Beahm, Lewis W. Beahm, Daniel L. Beahm, Milton E. Beahm, John H. Beahm, Claude W. Beahm, Clarence J. Beahm, Benjamin F. Beahm, and Thomas A. Beahm. Jane was also preceded in death by seven sisters: Margaret F. Donald, Emma F. Corbin, Bertha M. Beahm, Mary E. Spicer, Betty A. Raynor, Dorothy B. Beahm, and an unnamed female infant.
Jane is survived by her three children: Patricia Ann Walden of Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina; Michael David Walden and wife, Theresa Walden, of Queenstown, Maryland; and Richard Harold Walden and wife Sylvia Walden, of Grasonville, Maryland. Jane is also survived by a brother; Charles E. Beahm, and two sisters; Mable E. Clore and Gladys M. Nicholson; two grandchildren, Michael Joseph Walden and David Wilson Walden; and two great-grandchildren, Baily Margaret Mary Walden and Addison Jane Walden.
A funeral service will be conducted on Monday, December 12, 2022, at 2 pm at the Madison Presbyterian Church in Madison, VA with Pastor Karen Allamon officiating. The family will receive friends in the sanctuary one hour prior to the service. A reception will follow immediately at the church. Interment will be held at Ft. Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood, MD with the immediate family later in the week. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Madison Presbyterian Church in Madison, VA.
