Gilbert Lyle Milks of Keswick, Virginia, age 95, went to be with the Lord on May 10, 2022. He was pre-deceased by his parents Lloyd Elmer Milks, Sr and Lediah Hardy Milks, sisters Doris Holland, Mildred Walton, Edith Walker, brothers Lloyd Milks, Jr, Richard Milks, Robert Milks and Clayton Milks.
He is survived by his wife, Carole Smith Milks of Keswick, two daughters and their husbands, Patricia Lancey and Scott of Stuarts Draft, Virginia, Pamela Lynn Cannon and Michael of Ashburn, Virginia. Grandchildren: Brandy Austin, Justin Farish, Josh Sobotincic, Lauren Sobotincic, Jordan Golladay and Corey Swisher. Great grandchildren: Seth Wood, Izik Wood, Cameron Sobotincic, Ashton Wood, Noelle Harrison and Naomi Golladay.
Gil was born July 19, 1926, in Bradford, PA and was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific, seeing action in the Philippines. Mr. Milks was employed in various office sales positions in North Carolina and Charlottesville, VA. An avid music lover who delighted entertaining family and friends on a harmonica, Mr. Milks in retirement also enjoyed fishing, woodworking, traveling and dancing with his wife, Carole. He was a long-time member of South Plains Presbyterian Church, 410 Black Cat Road, Keswick, Virginia.
Arrangements are provided by Preddy Funeral Home, Gordonsville, VA. There is no formal visitation. Sunday, May 15 family and friends will gather to worship God, celebrate Gil‘s life, and witness to the Resurrection. The memorial service will be held at 2 PM at South Plains Presbyterian Church, followed by a reception in Fellowship Hall. Anyone who wishes to attend the brief graveside service at the South Plains cemetery is welcome to do so at 1:00PM. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to South Plains Presbyterian Church, PO Box 277, Keswick, VA 22947.
