Everette “Cubie” Jackson Smoot, 72, of Reva, Va. passed away on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at his home. He was born on December 31, 1948 to the late Isiah Smoot and Mary Louise Kennedy Smoot. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Ann Smoot and Elizabeth Henshaw, brothers, Charles Smoot and Eugene Smoot.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Emiline Henshaw Smoot; son, Thomas Michael Leake and wife Theresa of Zion Crossroads; sisters, Mary Lois Jasper and husband John of Jeffersonton, Va., Mildred Cooper and husband Sandy of Culpeper, Janet Smoot of Culpeper; grandchildren, Jacob Michael Leake, Ryan Thomas Matney, and Haylie Alexandra Spangler; and seven great-grandchildren.

A graveside funeral will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at Mt. Carmel Church Cemetery at Haywood.  Pastor Jeff Light will officiate.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at Preddy Funeral Home in Madison.
